In a riveting all-Filipino finale at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Lee Vann Corteza showcased his prowess in the billiards arena, securing the 2024 Las Vegas Open men’s title.

Facing compatriot Carlo Biado in an intense battle, Corteza emerged victorious with a 4-2, 4-3 triumph, making his mark in the Predator Pro Billiard Series.

Enduring a challenging journey that included three shootouts and a total of nine matches, Corteza demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience throughout the tournament.

His triumph in the first event of the Predator Pro Billiard Series came with a significant reward – a champion’s cash prize amounting to $30,000.

The road to the title was paved with notable victories, including a pivotal semifinal encounter against Ping Chung Ko of Chinese Taipei.

In a hard-fought battle, Corteza secured a 4-3, 4-0 win, setting the stage for his showdown with Biado in the championship match.

Biado, who advanced to the final after defeating Francisco Sanchez Ruiz in the semis with a convincing 4-1, 4-1 victory, proved to be a formidable opponent.

However, it was Corteza’s composure and strategic play that ultimately earned him the Las Vegas Open crown.

The women’s division also witnessed a stellar performance as Chezka Centeno, the reigning Women’s World 10-Ball titlist, claimed the championship trophy by overcoming Chinese player Siming Chen with a scoreline of 4-2, 4-2. Centeno’s victory secured not only the prestigious accolade but also the top purse of $18,000.

The Las Vegas Open was part of the broader Predator Billiards Series, featuring five tournaments, including the Apex mixed doubles.

As the billiards community basked in the excitement of the Las Vegas Open, attention turned to ongoing and upcoming events, such as the PBS Women Showdown running until March 1 and the highly anticipated Predator WPA World 10-Ball Men’s Championship set until March 2.

Corteza’s triumph at the Las Vegas Open not only added another accolade to his illustrious career but also set the stage for heightened anticipation as the billiards community eagerly looks forward to more thrilling competitions in the Predator Pro Billiard Series.
