The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters showcased their collective strength as they extended their winning streak to four games with a commanding 116-104 victory over the Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Saturday night, April 13.

Leading the charge for Rain or Shine were Beau Belga, Andrei Caracut, Jhonard Clarito, and Santi Santillan. While these players provided significant contributions on the offensive end, it was their unselfish play and team-oriented approach that truly set them apart, leading to a plethora of high-quality shot opportunities throughout the game.

Rain or Shine’s offensive efficiency was on full display as they connected on 42 of their 86 field goal attempts, fueled by an impressive 40 assists—an astounding 16 assists above their season average. This remarkable ball movement enabled Rain or Shine to overcome Terrafirma’s attempts to mount a comeback, particularly when the Dyip narrowed the gap to 89-92.

The Elasto Painters’ assist total marked the highest number of assists in a game since San Miguel Beer’s 46-assist performance against NorthPort in last season’s Governors Cup eliminations, highlighting the team’s commitment to sharing the ball and creating scoring opportunities for each other.

Beau Belga, coming off his first career triple-double just nine days prior, delivered another stellar performance with 19 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Belga’s crucial contributions included five points during a pivotal 10-0 run that extended Rain or Shine’s lead to 102-89, effectively putting the game out of reach for Terrafirma.

Meanwhile, Andrei Caracut recorded his second career double-double with 17 points and 10 assists, showcasing his versatility and playmaking ability. Jhonard Clarito added 16 points, while Santi Santillan contributed 15 points and nine rebounds, further bolstering Rain or Shine’s balanced offensive attack.

Despite a valiant effort from Terrafirma, led by Stephen Holt’s 20 points and 13 assists, the Dyip fell short in their bid to halt Rain or Shine’s winning streak. Juami Tiongson and Javi Gomez de Liano each scored 20 and 18 points, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Rain or Shine’s collective prowess.

Terrafirma’s loss marked their second consecutive defeat, dropping them to a 4-5 record and putting their playoff aspirations in jeopardy. With crucial games against NorthPort and Magnolia looming, the Dyip must regroup and secure victories to bolster their chances of advancing to the quarterfinals.

Despite Isaac Go’s struggles from beyond the arc, Rain or Shine remained composed and resilient, ultimately emerging victorious and solidifying their position in the standings. With their impressive team chemistry and relentless determination, the Elasto Painters are poised to continue their winning ways as they pursue championship glory in the PBA Philippine Cup.
