Rain or Shine continued their resurgence in the PBA Philippine Cup with a dominant 110-90 victory over Converge, securing their second consecutive win at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night, April 3.

After clinching a pivotal win against Phoenix Super LPG, the Elasto Painters displayed unwavering determination as they dismantled the FiberXers from the second quarter onward.

Santi Santillan led the charge with an impressive performance, tallying 23 points and 11 rebounds. Andrei Caracut also shone with a double-double of 15 points and 13 assists, while Shaun Ildefonso contributed 15 points of his own.

Rain or Shine’s three-point shooting was instrumental in building their lead, with Caracut and Beau Belga sinking crucial shots from beyond the arc.

Belga, in particular, delivered a stellar performance with a triple-double of 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, showcasing his versatility and leadership on the court.

The Elasto Painters capitalized on their momentum, pulling away decisively after a close first quarter. They entered halftime with a 52-47 lead and continued to extend their advantage throughout the second half.

Coach Yeng Guiao commended his team’s effort and emphasized the importance of maintaining their winning streak as they approach their remaining five games in the conference. Reflecting on their turnaround from the previous conference, where they rallied from a slow start to secure a playoff spot, Guiao expressed optimism about Rain or Shine’s prospects in the current campaign.

On the other hand, Converge faced further disappointment, suffering their sixth consecutive loss despite commendable performances from Justin Arana, Alec Stockton, Deschon Winston, and Brian Santos. The FiberXers’ struggles put them in a precarious position, jeopardizing their playoff hopes as they continue to search for their first win of the season.

As the season progresses, Rain or Shine aims to build on their recent successes and establish themselves as contender in the Philippine Cup.

With a blend of experienced veterans and emerging talents, the Elasto Painters possess the depth and skill necessary to navigate the challenges ahead and make a significant impact in the league.

Meanwhile, Converge must regroup and find ways to turn their fortunes around to salvage their playoff aspirations amidst a challenging campaign.
