ROAD VICTORY. The San Miguel Beermen live up to their billing by dominating Converge in a 105-96 victory in a PBA Commissioner's Cup clash at the Tiaong Convention Center in Quezon on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

San Miguel Beer showcased its offensive prowess, securing a decisive 105-96 victory over Converge in a PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash at the Tiaong Convention Center in Quezon on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

The Beermen, led by the stellar performance of Ivan Aska, demonstrated their scoring ability early in the game, establishing momentum in the opening quarter.

Aska was instrumental in the Beermen’s success, contributing 13 of his game-high 28 points during this pivotal period.

CJ Perez and June Mar Fajardo also played crucial roles, each pouring in at least 22 points, as the Beermen orchestrated a scoring clinic in their return to the Tiaong Convention Center.

After a disappointing upset loss in their season debut against NLEX, the Beermen showed resilience and determination, securing their second consecutive win.

The preseason setback in the OnTour series against the Meralco Bolts seemed like a distant memory as the Beermen, featuring their big guns including Fajardo, overwhelmed Converge right from the start.

The Beermen’s offensive efficiency was evident, boasting a 45.5-percent shooting clip that propelled them to a substantial lead, reaching as much as 18 points. Despite facing a Converge uprising, the Beermen maintained their composure to hand the FiberXers their fourth consecutive loss in the tournament.

Ivan Aska, in addition to his scoring prowess, displayed versatility by grabbing 11 rebounds. CJ Perez recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards, while June Mar Fajardo contributed 22 points and nine rebounds. The Beermen’s trio of Aska, Perez, and Fajardo proved to be a formidable force that Converge struggled to contain.

Aljun Melecio led the FiberXers with 17 points, but the team faced a shooting struggle, managing only a 36.3-percent shooting accuracy. Import Tom Vodanovich contributed 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to lift Converge against the relentless Beermen.

Despite Converge fighting back to within a point, June Mar Fajardo took charge in the crucial moments, producing And-1 plays, short-range buckets, free throws, a block, and a couple of assists in the last seven minutes.

Fajardo’s all-around performance helped the Beermen reestablish a 10-point lead after Converge had cut the deficit to a dangerous level at 84-85.

San Miguel Beer’s victory not only showcased their offensive firepower but also highlighted their ability to respond to challenges on the court. The Beermen’s convincing win sends a strong message to their competitors in the Commissioner’s Cup, signaling their determination to contend for the championship once again.
