Team Greats extended their dominance over Team Stalwarts, securing a commanding 142-133 victory in the highly anticipated PBA All-Star Blitz Game at the University of La Salle gymnasium in Bacolod City on March 23, 2024.

Leading the charge for Team Greats was the towering presence of Justin Arana, who asserted himself in the paint with a remarkable performance, tallying 36 points and snatching eight rebounds en route to being crowned the MVP of the Rookies/Sophomores/Juniors All-Stars.

Arana’s stellar showing not only propelled Team Greats to victory but also solidified his status as a rising star in the league. Reflecting on his impressive performance, Arana expressed his determination to maintain their winning streak, emphasizing his desire for a resounding 2-0 victory over their rivals.

Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Arana’s outstanding performance was rewarded with a well-deserved cash prize of P30,000, further underscoring his impact on the court. His 36-point outing marked the highest individual scoring effort in the Greats vs. Stalwarts game since Encho Serrano’s remarkable 40-point display in the previous edition.

Coach Patrick Partosa’s Team Greats not only secured the victory but also clinched the top prize of P100,000, highlighting their dominance throughout the game. Alongside Arana, sophomore sensation Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser showcased his scoring prowess with 23 points, including a couple of electrifying 3-point dunks, while Jerrick Ahanmisi contributed 21 points, including a crucial conversion from the four-point area during a pivotal third-quarter run that saw Team Greats seize control of the game.

Despite a valiant effort from Team Stalwarts, led by TNT rookie Kim Aurin’s impressive 23-point performance and Obstacle Challenge champion JM Calma’s 22 points, they ultimately fell short in their bid for victory under the guidance of coach Peter Martin.

Nevertheless, Team Stalwarts displayed resilience and determination throughout the game, showcasing the competitive spirit that characterizes the PBA All-Star festivities. In recognition of their efforts, Team Stalwarts received a commendable cash prize of P50,000, a testament to their tenacity on the court.

As the final buzzer sounded and Team Greats celebrated their hard-earned victory, it was evident that their collective effort and unwavering determination had paid off, solidifying their status as formidable contenders in the PBA All-Star Blitz Game.

With their eyes set on future triumphs, Team Greats and Team Stalwarts have once again left basketball fans eagerly anticipating the next thrilling showdown on the hardwood.
