TNT Tropang Giga rides blazing shooting night to 3rd straight win over Terrafirma, 131-109, in Governor’s Cup
4 min readJalen Hudson once again proved to be a scoring machine as he powered the Tropang Giga to their fifth victory in six outings in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
With the help of his teammates, Tropang Giga hacked out a lopsided 131-109 win over Terrafirma at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena Saturday, February 11.
Hudson lived up to the expectations of fans as he continued his hot streak with a 36-point performance, shooting an impressive 80 percent from the field (12-of-15).
Under the guidance of interim coach Jojo Lastimosa, the Tropang Giga dominated the court with their efficient shooting, leading to another win for the team.
The team’s success was not limited to Hudson alone. Mikey Williams contributed 26 points to the effort, making nine of his 15 attempts while RR Pogoy, Calvin Oftana, and Kelly Williams also put up significant numbers, scoring 16, 15, and 10 points, respectively.

The team was impressive as they made 48 of their 85 attempts for a 56.5 percent accuracy rate.
This rare feat surpasses the previous conference-high of 130 points scored by Converge in their victory over Terrafirma last January 26.
Lastimosa praised the team’s effort to share the ball and said, “We have a lot of players who can score… anybody can score as long as we share the basketball.”
This sharing of the ball was key to the team’s success as they were able to surpass the highest score previously posted in the tournament by Converge.
Williams, for his part, said: “We’re finding a pretty good flow and chemistry right now. We just have to find ways to pick our spots and get everybody in their strong suit. Moving forward, I think that’s going to be our strength.”
In a highly anticipated match-up between two scoring powerhouses, Jordan Williams put up 38 points, following his conference-high 57 points performance just two nights prior.
However, despite his impressive showing, Williams failed to lift his team to victory against Hudson and the Tropang Giga.
Terrafirma now stands at 2-3 overall, with their losing streak against TNT stretching to 15 games dating back to the 2016 Governors’ Cup.
With this victory, the Tropang Giga have now won their third straight game and sit at 5-1 overall in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
They are looking sharp going into their next game against Blackwater, who is currently 1-4 in the tournament.

The Tropang Giga dominated the game with a powerful 17-0 run spanning the end of the first period and the beginning of the second.
This surge effectively sealed TNT’s win.
Lastimosa said, “We wanted to have a good start today. We talked about not giving them (Dyip) a chance at the beginning. They played back-to-back (games in three days) so we should have better energy. I think we accomplished that.”
The Tropang Giga’s strong performance and good chemistry bode well for their future games, and fans are eagerly awaiting their next match.
